Again the situation in Gaza is aggravating.
Within the last few days a number of people were killed or injured. The
children and adults at SOS Children's Village Rafah have not been harmed,
but due to the insecure situation around the village emergency was declared.
The situation in the Gaza Strip is increasingly
tense and dangerous. Violent clashes occur all over the region. Roads are
blocked, Gaza is separated in three parts.
The children, mothers and staff in the SOS Children's Village Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip remained unharmed, but due to the menacing situation around the village and in the region in general, SOS Children's Village Rafah declared emergency. So far, the following measures of precaution have been taken: Activities in and outside the village have been cancelled; the village stocked up on extra supplies of food and medicine; at the moment no vacations for mothers or aunts are allowed; mothers who had been on vacation returned to the village early to be with their children.
